This is Sam.
Samantha (Sam) is a third year Industrial Design student at Carleton University with a Minor in Business, passionate about creating thoughtful, user-centered solutions. Her expertise lies in prototyping and model making, and she prides herself on being a well-rounded designer with a strong ability to move fluidly between concept development, evaluation, and execution.

Sam is a strong problem solver who excels at quickly assessing options and generating new directions when challenges arise. This adaptability is reinforced through her role as Co-President of the Carleton Industrial Design Student Association (CIDSA), where she leads with organization, explores multiple solution paths, and helps guide teams toward effective outcomes. She works to ensure students have the support they need while fostering a collaborative design community.






She gets involved

As Co-President of CIDSA, Samantha works alongside her co-president to improve student life and engagement within the program. Their focus this year was to expand opportunities for skill buiding and professional growth. They significantly increased the number of workshops hosted and placed a greater emphasis on portfolio reviews to connect students with experienced designers and industry professionals.

They also analyzed and improved large-scale events, resulting in a 82.6% increase in attendance for their annual Ski Day and expanded reach for their Concept Carleton Conference by catering to different programs related to design, to bring together students, alumni, and professionals acrosss industries.

Through her leadership in CIDSA, Sam has developed strong skills in budgeting, team collboration, strategic planning, and managing responsiblilites that extend beyond her own work. Learn more about CIDSA and Concept Carleton on our website, here.

  Outside of the studio
She enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. Some of her favourite activities are playing soccer, snowboardings, and hiking. In the summer, she enjoys fishing at her cottage and spending time with her family. She values growth outside of school, whether through personal projects or by taking courses to develop new skills.
